We entertained two different groups on 6th April, from Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability of Malaysia and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. The former was led by Dr Khairul Azmi and the latter led by Ilyana Hassya. Other than that, we also had guided walks for two different groups from IMU, Tun Syed Zahiruddin Residential College (KK9) UM, and SMK Yuk Bin, Malacca.
Dr Jariani from Chemistry Department, Universiti Malaya requested to use Rimba Ilmu as a soil sampling site for her UM Living Lab Towards Just Net Zero Grant. Her project titled Integrating Soil Carbon Stocks and Water Quality Dynamics for Climate Responsive Landscape Management covers forested areas, parks, roadsides, wetlands and residential zones to identify carbon-rich zones, degraded areas and potential sites for carbon-enhancing landscape interventions. The output will directly support the 2030 Net Zero Roadmap and UM's EcoCampus initiative.
Rimba Ilmu was offered to showcase our biodiversity collection and merchandise at ISP, Desa Parkcity for their World Environment Day celebration.
Lastly, KLU had a visit from Dr. Aleksandr P. Shalimov from South-Siberian Botanical Garden at Altai State University in Barnaul, Russia. He studied KLU's Selaginella specimens.
