On 9th December, SACUM's landscape architect Maszairizam Masri conducted a workshop on agricultural land care which involved about 35 participants from various background. In the evening session, the participants went inside the botanic garden for more hands on lessons.
On 13th December, Dr Yong Kien Thai, Rimba Ilmu's director led course volunteers for a tree planting and gotong-royong day in the garden. The saplings were provided by Forest House Sdn Bhd. who has been very good collaborators in providing us tropical native plants and the expertise in identifying said species.
From 15-26th December, forensic entomology fieldwork was conducted in Rimba Ilmu where a chicken carcass was placed so researchers could capture and identify what insects would gather at the carcass. This study is done by an undergraduate student from Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya and co-supervised by Rimba Ilmu's research officer, Ilyana Hassya.
