Mosses of Borneo
SHYAM VENKATACHALAM – MSc Life Science (research-mode). My research topic is “Moss flora of Upper Baram Area, Sarawak, Borneo.” It aims to document the findings of the region’s moss flora collected through Heart of Borneo Scientific Expeditions and serves as the sole and first record of the moss diversity of that area. The objectives are to produce a moss checklist, identification keys, and morphological description of every species and to use statistical tools to compare the moss diversity of the Upper Baram area with that of other parts of Borneo. This study potentially documents new Bornean records, several rare and endemic species, and the rediscovery of interesting species in the lowland rainforests of Sarawak.
