Despite it being the fasting month during the middle of February, we still received a few guided walks requests throughout. On the 3rd of February, Dr Khairul Azmi Abdul Rahman, Rimba Ilmu's senior science officer conducted a guided walk with MRSM Felda Trolak. The students were brought into the botanic garden, conservatory, and the exhibition hall to learn about the flora and fauna not just found in Rimba, but in Malaysia and more.
On 11th February, research officer Ilyana Hassya brought 47 students and eight teachers from UCSI Intl School for a guided walk. Because of the enthusiasm of the students in the botanic garden, they could not make time for the conservatory and so the students were encouraged to make another visit so they can get the full experience. This walk was aided by PhD student, Leong Qi Jia.
KLU Herbarium received two visitors in February; Dr. Ezzawanis from FRIM studying Thelypteridaceae and Khant Zaw Hein from Walai Rukhavej Botanical Research Institute, Mahasarakham University, Thailand. Mr Khant visited KLU to examine Araceae specimens, with particular focus on the genera Anadendrum and Typhonium.
