In late June, we received about 40 Begonias which were acclimatized for about a week before being transferred from their pots to soil. The plants were all placed in the conservatory along with other rare plants that Rimba Ilmu houses.

On the first Monday in July, our staff mobilized their energy and split into two teams. One team waterjet and cleared out the indoor and outdoor nursery while the bigger team went up to the research trail to do trail management. The trail team had to be split into two as well where the trail branched. However, because the research trail has not been maintained, there were a lot of fallen trees that blocked the entire trails. The first group took the valley trail and had to make makeshift trails to cut through the fallen trees. The second group was met with big thorny and spiky climbers where we used machetes to cut it and get the trails to clear out. The full trail was planned to be a loop but because of the massive fallen trees and not being maintained, we lost the loop and currently the research trail is still closed to public as we do not have enough manpower to properly maintain it.

The next day we had a visit from Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Research Centre for a guidewalk. We also did a guidewalk with schoolchildren from Kem Rimba Rimbun during the weekend.

Continuing on our cleanup month, we had Kebun-Kebun Bangsar with volunteers from both side to help in our fernarium cleanup. The fernarium had to be closed when a tree fell and broke the infrastructure and since then it has not been maintained. Lastly we close up the month with a guidewalk with Shaoxing University, China.
